Editorial Standards
P4P Global Desk is designed around source attribution, concise presentation and visible corrections.
Source selection
Priority is given to primary and official sources, established international news agencies, reputable media organizations, international institutions and other sources with a clear record of public accountability. The editor decides whether an item is important enough to publish.
Status labels
- Breaking: an urgent development with immediate relevance.
- Developing: a fast-moving situation where important details may still change.
- Official: information attributed to an official or primary source. This label does not mean every underlying claim has been independently verified.
- Update: a new development that does not require an urgent label.
- Context: background or explanatory information that helps readers understand an event.
Attribution
Updates should identify the source and, where available, link to the original material. P4P Global Desk aims to summarize rather than reproduce lengthy copyrighted material.
Corrections
Material errors should be corrected promptly. Where a correction materially changes an update, an editor note should be added rather than silently rewriting the historical record.
Independence of sources
Publication of a sourced claim does not imply endorsement of the source, institution, government, organization or viewpoint quoted.
